The Kula Kai and Ocean View, Hawaii area is rural and not in the prime service area of any broadcast television stations. Cable television does not provide service in this area either. We use Direct TV as it is the better of the two satellite TV service providers. It has more high definition programming than the Dish Network.

Anyone considering getting satellite TV service in Hawaii should be prepared for less than excellent installation service. As soon as the representatives of the services were told the installation was in Hawaii they could not help. The local installers of both services generally did not return phone calls and breaking appointments for installation appeared to be the norm. I even had to supply and install the roof brackets to attach the signal cable at the house to run it to the storage building roof where the two dishes are mounded.

Our rating of satellite installations service in Hawaii County is poor. You may be presently surprised. We recommend that you start with low expectations.

So far, the Direct TV picture quality is excellent.
